Make no mistake about the real concept of resilience

Make no mistake about the real concept of resilience
Dr. Javad Teleschi Yekta
The social worker and researcher on social resilience

Resilience is bounce back capacity from constant and continuous disaster and the ability for self- recovery. Resilience means someone could maintain his stability and mental health in face of difficulties.
Resilience, in recent years, has been addressed by different research, media and scientific groups; the variety of different areas on resilience is so considerable so that any organization allows itself to address the resilience; however, with a brief survey on the average of these studies we can deduce that there are two analyses on resilience which are thoroughly different.
In one hand, scientific and academic research groups address the real concept of resilience which indicates accurate understanding and the efforts to develop resilience in various aspects while on the other hand there is a latter group with incorrect conception and just focus on “tolerance” wants to promote the people’s patience in the face of life difficulties in individual, family, social and economic aspects. This is happening while either they know or not that “this is not the case”.
Unfortunately, some groups, abusing the word “resilience” and emphasizing on this scientific subject with imperfect understanding, intend to encourage others for increasing vaguely and irrationally adaptation with types of human, family, social and economic geography and in the other words effort based on “resilience words” to maintain the current situation.
Perhaps, they do not tend to any inevitable change in their related fields and the scope of their responsibility with a conscious and unconscious projection in relevant to bitter reality of social life. Even some social and political elites have misapprehended and use the title “resilience” irrelevantly and concern about resilience reduction. For example, low tolerance behind the traffic lights because of loud car horns.
This means that the group of social, economic and scientific elites has a little attention to real concept of resilience and no efforts to know more about it. In most cases of using the resilience and repeatedly emphasis on promoting the qualitative and quantitative levels, there is a suspect that the people who are concern and emphasize on this model of resilience are unable to make any correct and basic change in hard and intolerable conditions such as horrible social and economic situations with high expenditures.
In addition to incorrect understanding and little knowledge on resilience, some abuse this apparent title, unaware of its real meaning and basic functions.
Little knowledge has more risks compared to not knowing and I believe that all assemblies and groups which addressed resilience should review their individual and organizational attitudes concerning resilience until we would be finally released from this big misunderstanding.
Widespread social misconceptions due to little knowledge and irrelevant use of resilience lead to feedback from audiences who honestly state: “it would be better if we try to make positive changes in social and economic problems instead of addressing resilience and use this category in the society”.
The feedback is delivered while the groups have incorrectly applied resilience caused this set of attitudinal mistakes.
In the end, it should be noted after this brief description, true resilience supports the pass of crisis and help to be successful. It is impossible to achieve the success without resilience and it precedes any success. This shows any unprofessional definition means tolerating the current situation is wrong.
Resilience can be defined as a successful pass of all crises, social problems and specific conditions.
