Second Session of “Social Work in Times of War” to Focus on Ethics and Professional Immunity


The second session in the series “Social Work in Times of War,” titled “Ethics and Professional Immunity of Social Workers in Crisis,” will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

Hosted by the University of Isfahan, this specialized meeting will bring together prominent professors and experts in social work to explore the challenges and ethical dilemmas faced by social workers during crises.

Key speakers and their topics include:

  • Dr. Soraya Memar, Head of the Department of Sociology, University of Isfahan: She will discuss the necessity of including a course on social self-care in social work curricula, given the ethical and professional challenges in crises.
  • Dr. Fatemeh Jafari, Social Work Faculty Member, University of Isfahan: Her presentation will focus on the ethical dilemmas of social workers when dealing with humanitarian crises, balancing professional commitment with structural pressures.
  • Mr. Hamid Peyravi, Advisor to the Minister of Science on Student Mental Health: He will speak on the urgency of forming a National Social Work Headquarters for Crises, from policy-making to field operations.
  • Mr. Arash Ahmadi, Head of the Isfahan Workers’ Guild: He will review the professional immunity and rights of social workers during crises, from challenges to solutions.
