“Organ Donation Social Work Intervention Guideline” was released by Iranian Scientific Association of Social Work

The president of Iranian Scientific Association of Social Work (ISASW) in an interview said that the Organ Donation Social Work Intervention Guideline has been finalized and released by ISASW.

Organ transplantation and organ donation as the important issues in health system in Iran are affected by psycho-social factors. There was no guideline for social work interventions in organ donation process, Dr. Eghlima said.

He described that this guideline was developed with collaboration of Iranian Society for Organ Donation and includes recommendations for social work interventions from diagnosis of brain death to 6 months after organ donation. He believed that implementing this guideline will maximize protection of the families before and after the family’s consent about donation.

ISASW president thanked to the committee members of guideline development and mentioned that Zahra Sadat Torabi had an effective role to develop the Organ Donation Social Work Intervention Guideline. Zahra Sadat Torabi died in a car accident in July 2019.
